REGISSEUR / REMY VAN HEUGTEN
De Nederlands/Turkse CIHAN (9) zal tijdens zijn “sunnet” een echte man worden, net als ooit zijn oom Kemal, zijn grote voorbeeld. Alleen is hij bang voor de besnijdenis, wat hij probeert te verbergen voor zijn neefje Ozgur. Wanneer Cihan de druk niet meer aankan, vlucht hij weg van zijn familie de grote feestzaal uit naar buiten om te schuilen in een steeg. Vanuit daar ziet hij plotseling zijn oom Kemal zoenen met de serveerster, dus niet met zijn tante Emel. Als zijn familie Cihan bijna weet te vinden, overwint hij zijn angst en besluit hij zijn oom ‘te beschermen’, maar hierdoor wordt hij ontdekt en moet hij terug naar het Sunnet-feest.
